THE COMING ELECTIONS.
[To The Editor Stratford Post.] Sir, —The General Elections will be held on the 10th December next. Here in the Stratford electorate I would like to know has any of the Government officials been offered a billet at the booths (as I believe the Returning Officer, Mr Reeves, is President of the Taranaki branch of the Civil Service Association; if not, why not ? I hear that he has gone outside of the Civil Servants and rang up others here in Stratford, asking them would they take a job on at the elections. Now, Mr Editor, why has the Returning Officer gone outside of the Government officials and taken outsiders? Are the Government officials not capable enough for Mr Reeves ? I hope that all those he has taken on for the elections are over 21 years of age—that’s all. Thanking you in anticipation.— I am, etc., OBSERVER.
(Why ’not apply to the Returning Officer direct for the information.— Ed. “Stratford Post.”)
