N.Z.L. AND M.A. CO’S WEEKLY REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, rel>ort as follows; On Tuesday, 17th inst., we held our Usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when there was a fair entry ol •260 head of cattle and 275 sheep. Bidding was very brisk, more especially for our store cows with condition thereon, and farmers should take this opportunity of clearing up their cull cows, as prices are exceptionally good. We had a large entry of dairy stock, 53 head, most of which were sold at remarkably good values for this time of the year. Store cows, small and low conditioned, £4 10s to £3 Is, better conditioned £5 15s to £4 los ; fat and forward £8 17s 6d to £6 os, 2 year old steers (small) up to £4 4s 6d and to £5 ss, yearling steers (small) 61s, yearling heifers 27s 6d to 62s for a nice line on account of a Ngaere client, bulls £9 to £4 17s 6d, wethers, shorn, were passed in at 16s, hoggets, shorn, 16s. Dairy stock, small'and backward heifers made from £4 15s for 2 year olds,' to £3 10s. close up and better grown £6 10a to £5, 3 year old heifers, showing quality, £7 10s to £6 15s, dairy cows £7 2s 6d to £B. On Wednesday, 18th inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our Te Wera yards, when there was a fair yarding of 300 head of cattle, 245 head of which were sold under keen competition at satisfactory prices. There wore also a few head of sheep yarded. The attendance of the public was large. 2 year old empty heifers, small and mixed sorts, £3 2s 6d to £3 6s, one nice line being passed in at £3 16s, 2 year old steers, small and rough, £4 9s 6d, better grown £5 7s 6d,3 year old steers up to £5 17s 6d, 18-months steers up to £3 12s 6d, yearling steers, small but fair quality, £3 to £3 3s, yearling heifers 43s 6d to 44s 6d, store o vs, small and light, £3 6s 6d to £4 12s, forward cows up to £6, bulls, year-, lings, £3 2s 6d, 2 year olds £6 to .£9, and for a very nice 2 year old Holstein £ll 2s 6dwas secured, f.m. rams in wool 18s, woolly hoggets (small) 18s 6d, f.m. ewes and lambs 18s 4d. There was a large entry in the dairy pens of heifers and cows, quality of which was fair, the better quality stuff selling at advanced prices as compared with previous sales. Dairy cows, small and backward, £6, £6 10s to £6 15s, small and backward heifers £4, medium heifers, 2 year olds, up to £6 ss. Since we last reported we have put through a considerable number of paddock sales. Yearling heifers 38s to 42s 6d, 2 year old steers £4 4s 8d to £4 18s, store cows £4 12s 6d to £o ss.
