LOCAL AND GENERAL.
A the Court on Friday, twelve undefended civil cases, two judgment summons cases, and two charges under the Destitute Persons Act will be dealt with.
A London cablegram states that the Council of the British Association passed a resolution of thanks for tlie generous hospitality, and concessions extended to members on the occasion of the recent visit to Australia.
Weather forecast.—Very stormy weather may be expected. Westerly heavy gale and heavy rain is to he expected, with rivers rising shortly. Barometer falling.—Bates, Wellington.
The libel action, New Zealand Times v. Dominion, which was set down for hearing in the Supreme Court at Dunedin to-morrow, before Mr. Justice Sim and a jury, has been settled. The claim was for £3OOO damages. Twice the action was tried at Wellington with, inconclusive result, and a change of venue to Dunedin was then agreed on.—P.A.
