THE CROWN PRINCE S FAILURE
FRICTION BETWEEN THE AUS TRIANS AND THE GERMANS.
(Received 8.55 a.m.) Petrograd, November 12. The German staff excuses the defeat at Warsaw by blaming the difficult roads. The staff are really trying to cover the Crown Prince’s failure in the'centre,'which was driven back headlong, while the* wings held their ground, causing a general retreat. There is renewed evidence of/Aus-tro-German friction, principally because the Austrians are compelled to fight in the rearguard covering the Germans retreat. The. majority of casualties in, recent engagements in Poland was among/the Austrians. Austrian prisoners are more friendly towards their captors than towaids the German prisoners.
