WIN SOON WINS THE CEP. The following were the results on the first day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s spring meeting. There was a very large attendance. The track was in first-class order, and there was some capital racing. Ihe totalisator handled £42,869 Ids, as against £12,558 on the first clay lust year. Also started—3 Denver Huon scr, 12 King Cole 2sec, 11 Emmeline 2, 10 Albert H. 3, 7 Ravenschild 4, 9 Bright 5, 1 Don Caesar 5, 4 Adonis 6, 5 Mandarine 6. Don Caesar began badly, add King Cole stood on the mark. Win Soon, going off smartly, took the load, while Bright fell before they had gone a couple of furlongs. At the tanks Win Soon and Country Belle drew right away from the rest of the field, and in the straight Win Soon held Country Belle safe, and at the finish drew away to win by four lengths. Eccentric was twelve lengths away third, and then close up came Emmeline, fourth, followed in order by Ravens,'hild, Mandarine and Don Caesar. Denver Huon and Adonis were some distance away next, and Albert H. was last to finish. Time, 4min 31soc.
