On Thursday last (writes our correspondent), Mr Hawkins met the electors in the sclnol.-oc.n, Fd'okura. The room was well filled, and Mr JD. M. Pitcaithly was voted J o :h<i chair. Mr Hawkins spoke for about tno hours, and was listened to with keen attention. At the conclusion of his remarks, Mr R. McCluggage moved, and Mr Perrin seconded: 'That a vote of thanks be accorded Mr Hawkirs for His address, and that this meeting consider him a fit and proper person to represent us in Parliament.'* This was carried unanimously.
