POLITICAL.
MR HAWKINS' CAMPAIGN. (From a Correspondent). On Tuesday evening last, at the' Tunnel, Mr W. H. Hawkins addressed a large and enthusiastic meeting of settlers and railway workers. The candidate spoke for two and a half hours, and even then was requested to continue. He covered a wide area of political subjects. After answering a number of political questions, a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence in the candidate, and Liberal Party, and' its leader, was carried amid considerable enthusiasm.
• Last night Mr Hawkins received a splendid reception and hearing at/, Pohokura, the seating accommodation of the school being fully taxed.'That' the candidate, despite a slight cold, succeeded in interesting his audience for two hours was distinctly evident. After replying to several questions, a vote of thanks to the candidate for his able and instructive address, and confidence in him as the Liberal-candidate was carried unanimously. During the course of his address the candidate was frequently .applauded.
