Mr W. T. Jennings, Liberal-Labor candidate for Taumarunui, addressed a meeting at Taumarunui last night, reports a Press Association message. He complained of unfair treatmom, by

newspapers, and read three apologies for false statements. He held that the present prosperity of the country was due to the Liberal legislation, lie favored closer settlement, as in Belgium. He condemned expensive railway stations while money was needed for the backblocks. He objected to an irresponsible board usurping the powers of County Couiuis. Ho promised to support the remission of rents on Crown lands under the Bush and Swamp Act for five mars. Ho gave an illustration' of the advantages of cheap money. A vote of thanks and of confidence in the candidate was carried unanimously.
