£Fib Ph«m Association ] Christchurch, October 21. Mr D. G. Sullivan, Labor candidate for Avon, addressed his first meeting I to-night. He spoke strongly against monopolies and favored increased taxation on land values, and generally favored the platform of the Social Democratic party. •. Dunedin, October 21. Mr A. Walker was to-night select-, ed as Labor candidate for Dunedin North and Mr J. W. Munro for Dunedin Central. The Thames election campaign has commenced, reports the Press Association. Mr Lowe, Mayor of Thames, who was announced to stand in the; Liberal interest, has withdrawn from the contest to allow a straight-out con: test between Mr Rhodes -(sitting mem-1 ber) and Mr Taylor (Opposition).
