THE NEED FOR PROVISIONS.

The wholesale chartering of steamers by an American firm with a German name looks suspicious, as if American shippers were provisioning Germany through neutral countries, fulfilling orders through German agents in the United States. Dealing with the latest casualty lists, the German papers confirm the AngloFrench claims that German battalions were wiped out. Such phrases as "Innumerable Losses," "Tremendous Number of Dead and Wounded," are appended to the names of several regimens.
The Vossiche Zeitung admits that the German plans were upset by the Allies' retreat from Antwerp. The Germans were confident of capturing the Antwerp defences.
