THREE DAYS' BATTLE. 10,000 GERMAN PRISONERS TAKEN. Loudon, October 17. The Daily Chronicle’s correspondent Petrograd sends a report that it is unofficially stated that a great battle began on Monday. At first it seemed to go in favour of the Germans, but on Tuesday and Wednesday the Russians took the upper hand and repulsed the enemy, ■who were driven back in the direction of Kielcc. The German army was cut in two, the Russians capturing 10,000 prisoners and 42 cannon.
RUSSIAN ADVANCE IN GALICIA.
Petrograd, October 17. ■ Official. —The Russians have assumed the offensive along the V istula in Galicia.
