As Her Excellency has been definitely advised by telegram that only socks and woven cholera belts are required 'in connection with tbe above appeal, Her Excellency desires it to be known that she proposes to devote all other articles which have been received to the use of the New Zealand expeditionary force and its reinforcements.

The southern contingent of the Maori expeditionary force arrived at Wellington yesterday, and visited Parliament House under the guidance of Mr Parata. After the welcome in the chamber of the House of Representatives, Mr Massey met the contingent in the Prime Minister’s room. He said the contingent would do credit to the native race, and the Government and people of the Dominion hoped they would have a good time on the voyage to Egypt. He impressed upon them the value of Mr Parata, replying on behalf of tbe Maoris, said that the native race would have their eyes on their representatives in whatever part of the world they were sent to, and if they proved good disciplinarians their people would be proud of them.
