THE TIDES High water at New Plymouth today 0.45 p.m. To-morrow 0.7 a.m. and 0.29 p.m. THE SUN. Sets to-day 6.21, to-morrow 6.22. The American schooner Eric, which arrived at Moturoa direct from Columbia River on Wednesday, fouled its messenger chain, and the harbormaster decided to leave the schooner in the stream over night. Yesterday morning the vessel was brought alongside. The chain that had given the bother carried away later on. Discharging operations will he commenced this-, morning. The timber will be distributed throughout Taranaki, and some will go as far south as Wanganui. The Mapourika, arrived from Wellington at 10.15 a.m. yesterday with 200 tons of general cargo. She sailed for Westport in the afternoon. The Karon is expected to leave New castle about the end of next week with coal for New Plymouth and Picton. The Kaiapoi leaves Melbourne this week for liurnie, Adelaide, Edithburg, Wallaroo, Lyttelton, Wellington and New Plymouth.
