HUGE TRAINLOADS OF GERMANS ARRIVE AT BRUSSELS. ■„ United Press Association. London, October 2. The Germans continue to concentrate huge trainloads of troops at Brussels. THE FIGHTING BELGIANS. SUCCESSFUL IN HARASSING THE GERMANS. (Received 9.5 a.m.) Antwerp, October 1. After, the German bombardment of Wavre and St. Cathrines, the forts remained silent, and the Germans believing this to be due to the efficiency of their fire, a section of field artillery advanced, when the forts opened fire and destroyed almost the whole of the attacking force. The Belgians made a sortie and captured several guns. After, the Germans had recaptured Malines a Belgian armoured train threw shells into the barracks, killing many Germans. . GERMANS REPULSED. BELGIANS ABLY ASSISTED BY THEIR AVIATORS. VOLUNTEERS' USEFUL WORK. (Received 10.25 a.m.) Antwerp, October 2. There was an artillery duel on the whole front on Thursday. The Belgians repulsed the Germans at Rup-.. the enemy leaving many .dead and wounded, aviators enabling the fori* to direct a withering fire. Belgian volunteers destroyed the railway tracks and bridges in teu places behind and within the German line in the provinces of Hainault, Brabant and Liinbourg.
