Five thousand Germans approached Bessrods, near Termonde, with the [ohjeet of burning it. The Belgians, after a desperate struggle, drove them off, killing -120 of the Death’s Head Hussars, and capturing much stores and equipment.

GERMANS BRIDGE BUILDING AT DINANT.

The Germans have constructed a 300yds bridge across the Meuse at Dinant.
TOWN OF BILSEN BURNED IN REVENGE.
(Received 10.25 a.m.) Amsterdam, September 27
German forces have been conveyed from Aix la Chapelle to east and south of Antwerp. The Belgians dynamited the railway at Bilsen, destroying a German military train. The Germans in revenge burned Bilsen.
