A Sydney cablegram states that Bimeter has been scratched for the Hawkesbury Guineas.

The Company still continue to give special terms for dairy cows and heifers purchased through their auctioneer and stock agents.

After a spell of dry weather (states a cablegram from Hobart), wintry conditions prevail. Snow fell in the city yesterday.

Weather Forecast. Southerly strong winds to gale prevailing. The weather will probably prove squally, with heavy showers, and probably become very cold. Barometer rising.— Bates, Wellington .

Mt T. H. Penn is in receipt of a letter from the Consul for Belgium, Web lington (Hon. Chas. J. Johnston), acknowledging the receipt of the £65 6s !)d, and stating: “In the 'name of the Belgium people allow me to thank the residents of Ngaere for their generosity.” The money is to be cabled straightway to- the Ambassador in London.

In'addition to the sum of £2 17s hahded in at the office of the “Stratford Evening Post” towards the Huntly Relief Fund, we have to acknowledge through His Worship the Mayor a further contribution of £1 Ls from Madam Bernard and W. Phillips £l. making the total received to date £-1 IBs.
