Regarding the man H. Wallace, who was employed on foundations for a brick wall in Gundry Street and was buried beneath a fall of building material, it was stated at the inquest that the foundations had not properly set. The Coroner adjourned the inquiry to obtain further evidence. Invercargill, September 21.

Henry Newton, aged 40, was killed by a fall of earth near Nightcaps today. He was undermining a bank, when the face came away, breaking his back. He leaves a widow and eleven children.
