KAISER AS SUPERVISOR.
FORTRESS TOWNS BEING HASTILY STRENGTHENED.

The fotress towns from Istein to Cologne are being hastily strengthened, and there is similar activity in Lorraine. The Kaiser is still in Luxembourg supervising everything. THE PRUSSIAN GUARDS.
OFFICERS SUFFER SEVERELY DURING THE RETREAT.
(Received 9.15 a.m.) Bordeaux, September 20
Captured German officers state that nearly all the companies of the Prussian Guards and the tenth army corps have been reduced from 250 to 70. The first battalion of the Guards is commanded by volunteers, because aU the officers of the Guards during the retreat abandoned it. Of the general, colonel,' 1 eight officers and 800 men in another Guards regiment, only five officers out of 60 remain. The first battalion lost all its officers.
A "TALL” STORY REGARDING THE BIG WAR LOAN.

An official telegram states that the wav loan was a splendid success. £175,000,000 being subscribed. FRANTIC SPEED IN AIRCRAFT FACTORIES. 70 AEROPLANES PER WEEK.

Messages from Berlin state that Germany is turning out one Zeppelin and seventy aeroplanes weekly. Ten thousand have volunteered for service in the air fleet. A SPECIAL ENMITY TOWARDS BRITISH PRISONERS. “SHOULD BE SHOT.” (Received 9.40 a.in.) Amsterdam, September 20.
The Germans are showing the greatest enmity to British prisoners. Individual soldiers declare that the British should be shot in all cases.
