GERMANS MAKING DESPERATE STAND.

The Germans are reported to be evacuating Brussels to cover the retreat and defend their communications. They are preparing to make a desperate stand along the Meuse, and are constructing heavy fortifications at Liege.
AFTER FOUR DAYS’ FIGHTING.
London, September 16
The Daily Chronicle’s Antwerp correspondent on Tuesday wrote that the military conditions had completely altered. There, were now 100,000 Germans around Brussels, and 80,000 Belgians sheltering in the Antwerp forts, whither they retreated in good order after four days’ fighting, in which the Belgians lost about 1500 and the Germans 1000.
CIVILIANS SLAUGHTERED. ON VERY FLIMSY EXCUSE.

Brandenburg-troops slaughtered 182 civilians at Souimagu on the ground that rifles were found in some houses, despite the fact that workmen in the Liege district take rifles from the factories to finish them in their homes. Such rifles are minus the breach mechanism and without ammunition.
REPAIRING THE RUIN IN FRANCE.
KAISER AND THE RUSSIAN CATACLYSM. (Received 1.20 p.m.) Paris, September 16. In the north of France efforts are bravely being made to -commence the repair of the ruin. Flocks of industries are resuming.
It is reported, the Kaiser is going to lead his arnflies concentrating against the cataclysm Russia is preparing.
