An accident attended with serioua consequences to a married man named Leonard McGhie, aged 30, occurred in the Akatarawa bush yesterday afternoon. The tree jumped from its stump and pinned him by the legs to the ground, fracturing both limbs. Before he could be released the log had to be sawn through, an operation which occupied about two hours. Auckland, September 15.

Trooper F. J. Saxby, of the 4th Waijkato Squadron of the Auckland contingent, was thrown from his horse today, and sustained severe injuries to the head. His condition is critical. Saxby, who is a land agent, of Hamilton, is married, his wife being in Auckland at present.
