THURSDAY’S BIG MATCH. The Wellington footballer? arrived in Stratford to-day after a rough trip from Auckland. The tourists are a fine type of men and include among their number Teddy Heberts and “Rangi” Wilson, who were jin Australia with the “All-Blacks.” It was Teddy Roberts who aroused the enthusiasm of the Australians by his brilliant play, an ! people who enjoy a game of football should not miss the opportunity of seeing this versatile player at work. Dick Roberts, the “All-Black” captain, will captain the Taranaki side, and otner famous players associated with him are Stohr, Colman, Don Cameron, and tho genial Mick Cain. The game should ho worth going n long way to see—it will bo a battle royal between champions we'd worth witnessing. Wellington recognise the magnitude of the task set them, and are sending for reinforcements. Taranaki players will not forget their victory at Hawora earlier in the season, and can be relied upon to present the visitors from avenging their defeat In all probability Dewar will come np from the military camp to play for Taranaki, and will bo sure of a warm welcome.
If the weather remains line a large crowd may bo expected to gathe- on idie Showgrounds on Thursday. Already a large number of Wanganui people have signified their intention of being present.
Football teams representing the Senior Cadets and the school will meet at the showgrounds on Thursday, the match being a curtain-raiser to the Ilanfurly Shield match. The Cadets will bo represented by ’ha foloiwing team:—A. Cameron, B. Coll.us X. f lor kill, G. gangster, F. Fryday, J. Campbell, C. Till,Vickers (2). B. Shottor. E. Black, Crossan (2), W. Syine, K. Healy.
