Mr Sydney Kidman gave evidoe* before the Meat Commission that k# held no property in conjunction witk Swifts or Armours, and he wa* net interested in either firm. The only contract he ever had was to supply five thousand head of live stock fur Armours, and these were delivered at Adelaide. Witness predieted awful losses if the present drought oeatiuued.
THE ELECTIONS.

The latest figures are: Labor 4?, Liberal 32, Independent 1. Though Labor scores a victory, the Liberals are not defeated so badly as at first indicated. Yesterday’s count plated the Liberal Senate candidates im a much better position. Mr Mill**, improved. Gippsland is still doubtful. The Labor lead is considerably reduced. Mr Holman expresses satisfaction at the restoration of democratic government.
