AMUSEMENTS.
BERNARD’S PICTURES. The new series of pictures to be screened at Bernard’s this evening includes:—Warwick Chronicle (topical), “The Message in the Hose” (Edison drama), “He who laughs Last” (comic). “The Eight and Wrong of it” is a Vita drama. “By the sad Sea Waves” is a cosmo comic. “In th« Watches of the Night,” is a M.L. drama. Marion Leonard is one of the biggest favorites of the American screen stars. The story of this feature deals with the heroic efforts of a joung actress who has married a son of an old family to save the family name from disgrace after her husband has stolen bonds to cover a, shortage in the stock market, and then committed suicide. The young man’s father bitterly opposed the marriage of his sou to “an actress,” considering it a disgrace to the family name, and when Ins’boy refused to listen'to his protests he ordered him from his home. The union was a happy one, however, and a charming youngster came to bless the Lrtme.' But a crisis’came and young Stockton needed money. Broken in spirit, he shot himself. The manner iu which his wife (Miss Leonard) arose to tiie occasion and covered up all traces of the theft and suicide to save the family name from disgrace is dramatic in the extreme. “The New Maid” is a Lnbin comic.
