The Germans at Namur had forty seige guns with a range of twelve miles. The largest gun in the Belgian forts was 8.4, while the Germans had 11.2 calibre. The Germans entered the town between Marchovelette and Champion forts. When the French arrived, Namur was an inferno, and it was necessary to retreat. The Flinch and Belgians on retiring; were Severely handled by the Germans, and many were made prisoners.
