WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
COUNCIL'S MONTHLY MEETING.
At the monthly meeting of the
Whangamomona County Council held on Tuesday, there were present: Crs. A. Meredith (chairman), W. A. McCutchan, W. Bacon, T. R. Mounsey, A. Coyne, J. McCluggage, K. B. Robertoiif and N. R. Cleland.
' The chairman's action in accepting Needlmm and Rust's tender for Kohi road formation was confirmed. It was decided that the. Council purchase a road grader, the time of taking delivery to be left.in the hands of the Engineer.
The Engineer's estimate of tho cost of opening up Maka.hu road is to bo sent to Mr Nathan, Wellington. Messrs Aylward and Walker waited on the Council and asked tor a grant for the Marangae road. It was decided to instruct the Clerk to inquire if funds were available for the Kohuratahi or Marangae roads, and if so that they be expended to tho best advantage and in accordance with the wishes of tho settlers. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Railway Department regarding the supply of trucks for metal carriage from Tariki.
R. Smith was granted a lease of certain road reserves. The chairman was voted an honorarium of £IOO for the current year. A subsidy of £IOO was granted from the Central Riding fund for Ohura Road metalling in the township. The Engineer was authorised to procure 40yds of maintenance metal for Brewer Road. It was decided to ask the Public Works Department if it intends opening Prospect Road-to the second bridge on .the Ohura Road in the township. Three trucks of metal are to be sent to Marco Bond for maintenance. Representations are to be made to the Public Works Department in tin? direction of having the road near the dairy factory made passable for traffic. The Engineer was instructed to prepare an estimate for widening and metalling the Ohura Road for five miles.
The "thirds" on Otara Road were pledged for the interest on the loan. Accounts amounting to £IO2O 10« 9d were passed for payment.
