Austria v. Servia

BATTLE ON THE BANKS OF THE WADAR.

DEFEAT OF THE AUSTRIANS.

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright]

[United Press Association.] London, August 24,

It is officially reported from Nish that three army corps, containing 100,000 men, under General Potiofek, crossed the Drina and took up a position in a triangle bounded by Douitza, Shabatz, and Mountizer. A battle began on the banks of the Wadar, near its junction with the Drina. Several Servian regiments made bayonet charges, supported by Oreusots, and turned the Austrians’ right. The Austrians retired in disorder.

The Servians carried at the point of the bayonet most of the forts protecting Vishegrang. All attacks on Obrrovatz, Belgrade, Bombrovitza, and Tekia were definitely repelled. There is great elation at the defeat of General Potiofek, Governor of Bosnia, who organised the persecutions following on the Archduke’# murder.
