BURGLARY IN SOUTHLAND
THE THIEF CAPTURED. t'Pifi Press Assocukok 1 Invercargill, August 19. On Monday night the premises known as Hobbs’ billiard-room, at Tuatapere, in which are contained a soft goods store and a billiard-room, were broken into and the safe, containing about £3O, removed. The safe was carried out into the yard, where the hack of it was smashed in with an axe. When the crime was discovered a man named D’Arcy Robert McDerett was detained by the local constable on suspicion that he was implicated. On stripping Derett he found the bulk of the money, about £4O, concealed in his underclothing.
