Cramer and J. W. McMillan. lIEA DM A STICK'S RE POET. Tho headmaster reported as follows; During the next week the school will ho closed for the term holidays. The foreman of the Education Hoard arranged some time ago to take advantage of this break in the school work to fix up File floor of the porch in our infant room ami i should like the committee to remind him of his obligation. Since your last meeting a bicycle shed has been built by the Education Board’s employees. The schoolboys did tho necessary earth excavation and helped to remove the old pine trees. 'I he slmd is a great convenience to tiie school children. Laundry work is being taken, for the first time, by the senior girls as a school subject after the holidays, and it is necessary to have a copper fixed up m the Technical School for this purpose. The Visiting Committee made an admirable suggestion re tho fixing if titis boiler—a suggestion i should like to have laid before .Mr Moore, the Board’s foreman of works. The Visiting Committee went fully into the necessary re-arrangement of the grounds consequent on the removal of the school residence to increase the children’s playing area. Their report on the matter will be laid before you. and in my opinion their recommendations should be .adopted, i should like to have carried out, also their

suggested alterations to the girls’ lavatories. I wish to thank 31 rE. A. Osmond, who visited the school and advised me re the laying out of flower hods. Mr Osmond was good enough to promise nofc only to supervise the work in this connection,’ hut also to provide most of the (lowers and plants. Re life and drum hand: The hoys am making good progress in managing their flutes, under tire’ skilful instruction of Mr O’Leary, and those in charge of the drums had their first les■on from Air S. The Visiting Committee reported:— Wo have inspected the school and grounds and find everything in good order. The down pipe at corner of infant room and spouting on hood of shelter slu'd have been repaired. The . !oard nave erected a shed for bicycles on the ul’st fence, which is a great ■onvenicnce. Your committee would mggest that work he proceeded with at once 1 by the caretaker in shifting fences and live hedges and re-plant* ing where required for the extension of the playground ; also that the fence in front of the girls’ lavatories ho renewed with new posts and iron as perplan submitted. We would ask the Hoard to put in a drain oh the west side of the infant school to the watertable on street to take off all the storm water on that side. ft was decided that the members of the committee visit the school at U 59 p.m, on Wednesday to go into the proposed alterations to the playground. Other alterations suggested are to be requested from the Education Board.

DRUM AND FIFE BAND. Mr McMillan reported that ho had. before coming to the meeting, lieard the hoys’ hand practising, and ho was agreeably surprised at the progress they had made. He said ho, was sure that when the committee hoard them placing in public they would ho surprised at their excellence.
