THE BUDGET.
Tlio groat war in winch Britain is a participator is so all-absorbing that the internal questions of the Dominion are overshadowed, and almost forgotten. Tims it is that few people knew, or eared to know, that the Financial Statement was to ho delivered in the House last evening. Ft was duly delivered as intended by the Hon. Jas. Allen, and, taken as a whole, must he considered a good statement, showing the country to bo
sound financially and probably as well governed as it ever will be while the pernicious Party system lasts. So far as we can see there was no particular—or even proper Party—objection to the placing of the Budget before the House, though a discussion on it under the circumstances might be questionable. Therefore the theatrical evacuation of their places by Sir Joseph Ward and Iris followers seemed quite unnecessary. It is to be sincerely hoped that the incident will not bo used to hang another Party wrangle upon. The country does not want it: it would sooner see Parliament adjourn altogether for a few months.
