MR HOLMAN’S COMMENTS.
AN INQUIRY ASKED FOR. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.45 a.m.) i Sydney, Jhly 22. In the Assembly, Mr Perry, a member of the Totalisator Commission, demanded a searching inquiry into the comments made by Mr Holman regarding members of the Commission.
In the course of comments hinting at the appointment of the Royal Commission, Mr Holman had made use of the words: “It was an almost inconceivable degree of depravity that a man should not only corrupt himself but should sit as an instrument for the corruption of other men.” Mr Perry denied any attempt being made to influence votes on the Commission but wanted the inquiry in order to satisfy the community that the charges were unfounded.
