ATTEMPT ON OFFICIAL'S LIFE. L:t Electric Telegraph—Copyright [Unitee Press Association.] London, July 20. ■ Basanta Kumar Challerji, belonging to the Calcutta Investigation Department,' was shot at Daca, but escaped. Another man acocmpanying him was killed, and a third dangerously wounded. The assailants disappeared. Challerji was investigating a similar attempt at Narendrasen recently. EIGHT STUDENTS ARRESTED. (Received 8.50 a.m.) Calcutta, July 20. Ramdas; the victim of the Dacca 'outrage, was suspected by' anarchists as a spy. A policeman in attempting to arrest the murderer was wounded. Eight students have been arrested.
