The Immigration Department has ordered Captain Yamato to leave the harbor with his Hindu passengers. Yamato tried to reaise steam, but the Hindus attacked him with clubs and obliged him to leave the Komagata Maru. The owners’ agents have warned the Hindus that they will bring the police aboard to conduct them outside the three miles limit, and leave them to starve or find their way home. The Hindus defied the authorities and are refusing to leave Canadian waters until their passage money is refunded and a supply of. provisions granted. SHOTS EXHANGED WITH POLICE. Vancouver, July 19. The Hindus on the Komagata Maru teat off two hundred police and immh gration officials when they endeavored to tow the Komagata Maru seaward. Several of the police were wounded,, and some of the Hindus were shot, but whether fatally is not known, EMPLOYMENT OF FORCE. THE GOVERNMENT DETERMINED (Received 11.30 a.m.) Vancouver, July 19. , There is much feeling against the Hindus. As the result of the riotous affray in which a force of police and immigration officials was beaten back when they attemuted to compel the Komagata Maru to leave the harbour, the Canadian Government has authorised the employment of militia, and, if necessary, of sailors of the Canadian cruiser Rainbow. • The injured men are recovering. The number of casualties amongst the Hindus is not known.
