A QUICK SPENDER.
£14,000 IN EIGHTEEN MONTHS. A case in which a person, who had been adjudicated insolvent, was alleged to be the rightful owner of £58,000 in South America, was mentioned in the Insolvency Court in Adelaide last' week. The insolvent was Oscar Morcel Mayer, of Henley Beach, ag4nt. * Mr Penny, in applying for an adjournment till the second week in November, said that some 10 years ago the insolvent vvas entitled to £72,000 under his late mother’s will. Under the South American law, if it were seen that the beneficiary was a spendthrift, the judge could say that the balance of the legacy should b® deferred. Insolvent spent £14,000 in 18 months, and the balance was then deferred for 10 years. That period would be up in November, when insolvent would be 32 years of age. The hearing was adjourned for a fortnight, to allow of bail being increased, with a view to a prolonged adjournment.
