STRATFORD DAIRY CO.

The annual meeting of shareholders of the Stratford Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., is to be held in the Town Hall at 11 a.m. on July 27th. The report to bo presented reads as follows : Your directors have pleasure in presenting to shareholders a satisfactory statement of file year's operations. The following table will be found interesting:— 1912-13 1913-14 Suppliers ... 215 210 Milk received 31.122,825 31,331.107 Cream received 898 Fat from cream 378 Av'go test ... 3.84 3.81 Lb. fat ... 1.221,215 1,318,791 Lb. butter ... 1,433.931 1,531,139 Over-run ... 17.1 16.0 Cost man'fure 1.14 d l.lld

The working account shows a bal- ' ance of £SIOB 17s 3d. This will bring the average . paid for butterfat for the year to 12.41 d per lb. The quality of the butter has been well maintained. You will note by the bal-ance-sheet that the water bore at the factory has cost £517 9s 7d to the end of the financial year. This has cost far more than the directors anticipated, and has been caused by the difficult formation of the country met with. It is hoped that a sufficient supply of water will be obtained for the Company's requirements. At the request of a number of shareholders a precipitating plant for obtaining the curd for casein manufacture from the skim milk was installed at Toko creamery, the shareholders interested taking up the necessary shares to cover the .cost. Shipping charges are considerably increased on account of the extra expense in loading and railing, caused by the late strike. : Fortunately, the policy of the directors lias been to keep large stocks of fuel on hand to meet emergencies of this kind, otherwise the position would have been very awkward and expensive. More fortunately, the directors having sold the whole of the output at the commencement of the season at a satisfactory figure our returns were not affected by the slump on the London market caused by the regular shipping service being disorganised by the strike.

The retiring directors are Messrs A. Lehmann, E. Marfell, and C. Sangster, who are eligible for reelection. Mr Marfell does not seek re-election. •Mr T. IT. Penn again offers bis services as auditor.—R. DingleJ chairman. No special business has been set down for consideration.
