MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
SOME OF THE RESOLUTIONS. [Per Peeks AaeooiATioN.] Wellington, July 1-1. At the Municipal Conference {.lie following remits wore carried:—That. the district elector:-.' list shall he made up on or before January 15, instead rf February 15, as at present; that applications for enrolment on jhe supplementary district electors' roll shall close on March 31, after which no claim is to he received; that the conncils he empowered to manufacture and sell bricks; that the Government be asked to consider the question of establishing State quarries and linking ithem with the main railway lines, so lthat local bodies will be enabled to !got road metal at first cost; that legislation be introduced to prevent the (Government from erecting .hoardings facing a public street within a city or borough, n.lso empowering the local authority to refuse to permit the erection of private hoardings in a city or borough ; that local authorities' powers be extended to ennblo thorn to subsidise private passenger or goods transport services.
