THE NICARAGUAN TREATY

TWO PROTESTS ENTERED. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 8.40 a.m.) Washington, July 14. Costa Rica and Salvador are protesting against the pending Nicaraguant treaty contending that the American object is to secure a virtual protectorate over Nicaragua, thus impairing the autonomy of other Central American States. Costa Rica objected to its interests in the route of the projected Nicaraguan Canal not being considered. Salador objected to the United States establishing a naval base in Fonseca Bay.
