HAWERA'S CARNIVAL.
EIGHT NOMINATIONS. Considerable interest 13 being taken in the Queen Carnival,' in aid of the funds of tho Hawera Band. The nominations for Queea closed on Friday, and eight candidates were nominated. The drawings for numbers results as follows: No. I.—Mrs Joseph Quin (red and blue), nominated by flawera Municipal Band. No. 2.—Miss A. Resell, Inaha (green and yellow), nominated by Gun Club and Sports and Pastimes Club. No. B.—Mrs M. J. Goodson (amber and black), nominated by United Friendly Societies and Football Club. No. 4.—Mrs A. Coulson (navy and white), nominated by Skating Club. No. s.—Miss Clareburt (maroon), nominated by South Taranaki Club and Racing Club, and general sport. No. 6.—Miss Douglas (tango and brown), nominated by Trades and Commerce. No. 7.—Miss E. Hogg (heliotrope and pink), nominated by Arcadian Revels. No. B.—Mrs Hekaka, nominated by the Maori committee. The election will close on August 8, and the coronation ceremony will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 12.
