TOKO SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
1 At the annual meeting of the Toko •Settlers' Association on June fJOth, there were 2o members present. The Chairman's, report on the past year's work is as follows.; —The show, as you aro all aware, was a decided /success* and, the attendance was good. Special trains were run from Pohokura and Stratford, but were . not largely patronised. Competitions in the various classes was good, particularly in the cattle section. The horticulture section was rather poorly contested. Mr Evan Jones having won outright the Toko Merchans' Cup given for the best, pen of 5 heifer calves, your committee can now bring that class into line with the others as regards boundaries. It is a recommendation to tlie incoming committee to typify the cattle classes next year. Although no great oil'ort was made to secure special prizes, quite a number were offered, and were gratefully accepted. The committee is also very grateful to those ladies and gentlemen who so willingly came forward and assisted by judging the various classes or otherwise helping. The committee was numerically too small to cope with the work in the past season. Early in the year, Mr H. H. Judd, owing to leaving Toko, resigned the secretaryship, and Mr G. M.
