ELTHAM GUN CLUB. Pine weather favored the match held by the Eltham Gun Club on Mr Campbell's paddock on Thursday afternoon, states the Argus. There was a large attendance of gunmen from. Waitara, Midhirst, Hawera, Stratford, and Toko, besides a good number of local shots, and the shooting was very good. Results:— Sparow match, 20 birds; 14 entries. —F. Fowler, 14yds, 15 birds each, tied for third place, Wheeler securing the position on the eleventh round. Six bird clap match ; 12 entries.— W. Tuck, Toko, 14yds, 6 birds, 1; H. Harrison, Eltham, 14yds, and R. Linn, Eltham, 14yds, tied for second place with 5 birds each, Linn being successful on the fifth round of the shoot off. Sweepstake, first miss out, of 18yds ; 13 entries.—A. Brown 1, F. Whittle 2, R. J. Knuckey 3. Mr IT. Marsh proved a capable referee, while the handicapping 0 1 . Messrs F. Casey and H. This was a splendid race, the contestants being practically level until near the post, when Harvard spurted. Gollan was unahle to strike fast enough, hut sculled powerfully and consistently, with a plucky spurt at the finish. The Daily Telegraph says Stuart manned his victory by using his lead to "wash" Gollan, similar to McVilly's tactics in 1913.
