Tarawera, was found on the riverhank, with the stains of a well-known disinfectant in the month and a halffilled bottle of the same,fluid in his pocket. At the inquest o-night, his wife, Jessie Atkinson, said her husband drank heavily and was cruel to her, and she left him. On Tuesday last she obtained a separation order and £1 a week maintenance. His niece said the man had boon depressed since the Court proceedings. She saw a bottle in his hand, but ho

would not tell her what was in it. A verdict was returned that the man committed suicide by taking poison.
