PERSONAL.
Mischa Elman, the violinist, is a passenger by the Moeraki, for New Zealand, after a brilliant season in Australia. ; Mr Ramsay MacDonald, M.P., has been unwell for some months, and the state of his health is causing anxiety. -Mr E. C. Towle, manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Auckland for about twelve years, died at the age of 64, reports the Press Association. In March, 1912, he retired from the hank after 35 years’ service. Mr W. A. Curzon Siggers, M.A., now at St. John’s College, Cambridge, and a son of Canon of St. Matthew’s, Dunedin, has obtained the first place in second-class honors in the CamlfHdge University law tripos. He has compressed the usual two-year course of study'into one year, and yet secured the above honorable position.
The death is announced of Mr Alfred Dewing, aged 56, formerly manager of Nelson Bros.’ Taruheru Freezing Works, Gisborne. He was well-known in public affairs in the district,and was highly esteemed. He has no relatives in New Zealand, but lias people in tlio Old Country.
Among the officers of the (Territorial force retiring to the reserve of officers are Colonel R. J. Collins, C.M.G., from the general list, and Major R. C. Kirk, from the Garrison Artillery. Colonel Collins has a record of 45 years service with the Y olnnteer and Territorial forces.
