A Test Case.
ASIATSC JMMSGRATIOfc!. THE HINDU QUESTION, _______ j [By Elbotbio Tslbgbaph—Copybigiit l [Unitnu Pkicss Association.] (Received 8.20 a.m.) Vancouver, June 26. The immigration inspector has signed an order for the deportation of a Hindu, one of the passengers on the Komogata Maru. This action ■will supply a test case for the courts. An application for a writ of Habeas Corpus was made, but was refused by the court, and an application will be made to the Court of Appeal. A special sitting will be held to consider the appeal. The application for the writ of Habeas Corpus is made so as to override the deportation order. Deportation was ordered on the grounds that th« Hindu, by coming indirectly here, by not having 200 dollars in his possession, and by being a laborer contravened the Orders-in-Council.
