THE OPENING CEREMONIES.
[Per Press Association.] Wellington, June 25. His Excellency, accompanied by the Countess and staff, was escorted from Government House by a troop oi the Herataunga Mounted .Rifles, the li Company, Fifth Regiment, forming the guard of honor at Parliament House. On reaching Parliament Buildings, his Excellency proceeded to the Legislative Council, accompanied by the Black Rod and staff. There the members of the Lower House were already assembled, all the available space on the floor being occupied by ladies. The bright colors of their dresses blending with the brighter military uniforms, put a touch of brilliance to the spectacle. The reading of the Speech occupied twenty minutes, and as their Excellencies left the building they received a salute from the bodyguard drawn up outside as they moved oft, to the strains of the National Anthem.
