How to Dress.
THAT IS THE QUESTION. FASHIONS FANTASIES. [By Elects 10 Tblkgbafh—Coptbishtj Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received S a.m.) Loudon, June 22. The fashion-makers in Paris are gradually providing ample skirts and longer and fuller tunics, and the straight tight underdress is being flounced. The old problem of how to uphold the skirts threatens. Formerly the men were witty about the skirts, but those acting as crossing sweepers are now virtuously indignant at the decollete ankles. Women are tempted to become reasonable and consistent, but how can women dress comfortably and conveniently if she wishes to look womanly is the question.
Men's decollete shirts have been introduced in Berlin. They are comfortable as a hot-weather garment, which has an ultra low neck and wide flapping collar. Newspapers discourage the fashion for State occasions, but it is becoming popular. Ponceau red, absinthe green, and canary yellow are being worn by some eccentric persons thi3 summer, but the choice of the well-dressed women lies amongst the pretty shades of classic or very dark violet and blue checks. Black and white is worn by the young women.
The journal, Tailor and Cutter, rejoices because the Prince of "Wales wore a'frock coat at his first public function, and prophesies that the garment will remain fashionable for many years, despite the clothiers who are in a hurry to become rich.
