A CHALLENGE.
[To The Editor Stratford Post.] Sir,—ln Saturday’s issue appeared a letter over the signature of S. R. F. Sharp, the writer of which attempted to convey the impression that I am devoid of ordinary intelligence. The position is this: On June the sth appeared a letter over the same signature, the writer posing as an authority on a subject of which I can prove he knew little. Part of his letter ran thus: “I would beg a small space in your valuable columns to give the ratepayers and householders a little knowledge (?) of > one of the candidates at the recent Borough Council contest. Mr Moon has been connected with one of the most progressive boroughs in the Dominion, having been in the employ of the Wanganui Council for a number of years, part of that time being foreAman. This has enabled him to get in touch with most of the works, etc.” My reply is; Mr Moon was never Borough Foreman. If S. R. F. Sharp can prove this statement wrong, I am prepared to publish my name, for which he is so anxious, and give £5 to the Stratford Hospital, providing he will donate £5 to the same cause, in the event of my proving his statement contrary to fact. If S. R. F. Sharp is willing to take up my sporting offer, let him send his money on deposit to yourself, and I will cover. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., VERITAS.
