THE GENERAL ELECTION.
BAY OF ISLANDS SEAT. [Psr Prmi Association.] - Auckland, June 11. Delegates representing the Opposition party met at Kawakawa, Sir Joseph Ward presiding. Dr. Buck was chosen to contest the se,at in the Liberal interests at the general election, other prospective candidates having retired in Dr. Buck's favor. At a meeting, addressed by Mr Vernon Eeed, the sitting member, a resolution was passed protesting against the Bay of Islands Reform League's assertion that, it represents the Government votes in the electorate, repudiating its choice of Mr Wilkinson as the Reform candidate and expressing confidence in Mr Reed.
The resolution was passed at a meet-' ing at which Mr Reed addressed his constituents. The objection to the Reform League's choice of a candidate is based on the fact that the League had previously agreed to leave the choice in the hands of the Prime Minister.
