i By Eleotkio Telegraph—Coftbightl [United Peesji Association.] New York, May 30. From Fairbank, Alaska, is reported a severe earthquake shock in the vicinity of the city. Considerable damage was done, but it is not known if any lives were lost.

The exploring ship Karluck was crushed in the ice in January. The crew were marooned on Wrangel Island, but their fate is not known according to private messages received through the letters from sailors on Arctic vessels. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Paris, May 31.
A bomb maniac named Pechause,. suspected of murderous designs on M. Poincare, has been arrested at Lyons with several bombs in his possession. One was held in place in the small of his back by wires connected with an electric switch on his chest. The police exploded the bomb on waste ground, and proved that if it had burst it would have blown the wearer and his immediate neighbor to pieces.
