NETS OF TEN TRAWLERS.
SEIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT. £Peb Pbesb Association.] Napier, May 18. There was a storm in fishing circles on Saturday as the result of Customs officers confiscating the nets of ten trawlers owing to the size of the mesh not complying with the regulations. The seizure might have resulted in considerable hardship to owners, but the Secretary of the Marine Depart., on being communicated with, telegraphed instructions to the Collector of Customs to return the nets and give permission for their use pending further instructions. I Proseciitions will probably follow.
