The first effort was that by the ■ Ixon team of Melbourne, and they just succeeded in clipping 18sec. off the New Zealand record, their total time for the century being 4b. 13min. [ lOsec. i Victoria now led in the contest, and I when the last day of the competition arrived the Ixon team was generally considered winners; but a bolt from tlio blue came from the crack team of the Northern Suburbs Club, Sydney, when, practically on the call of time, they registered one of the finest pieces of organised relay riding yet recorded in the world. The Sydney club’s team of 10 riders covered 100 miles in the remarkable time of 4h. Grain 55sec., more than Grain, better than the previous best. It was one of the most keenly contested .cycling ( competitions in Australia.
