“A WRETCHED WASTER.”

YOUNG MAN SENTENCED. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, May 14. William Stevens, a young man, was charged with vagrancy at the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The chief witness for the prosecution was accused’s father, who was subjected to a severe cross-examination by bis son. The evidence showed that accused was addicted to drink and sponged on his father and threatened to turn the latter out of the home. In sentencing the prisoner to three months’ imprisonment, Mr Justice Cooper said; “I think you are a low blackguard for the manner in' which you questioned your father. You are a wretched waster.”
